Jack was co-founder, with his wife Pauline, of Deafness Research UK which funds medical research into deafness and tinnitus. He was the President of Action on Hearing Loss, formerly the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, which provides support, services and campaigns related to hearing loss. He worked tirelessly side by side with the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, a pan-disability organization now merged into Disability Rights UK, on campaigns throughout his four decades as Chair of the All Parliamentary Group on Disability.
